philosophy meta-forum

Is there anything on this forum that can serve at least some use?

Apologize for what might sound like a disparaging tone, but I'm new to the forum and have been surfing it for a few hours now to no avail. Could anyone point me to some useful, in their opinion, threads that are not comprised solely of rumours, gossip and other informational noise? To elaborate on the extension of 'useful', I'm looking for threads that either deal with philosophical questions or practical issues pertaining to graduate school. I'd really appreciate that, and sorry again if I sound rude.

Oh, you mean the cheat codes subforum?

You have to be registered for that.

I once asked about interesting younger philosophers in different fields. Some answers almost started normal but then it all went totally downhill.

The job market updates thread is useful--especially when the moderators clean out the crap from time to time.

Konstatin: I do *not* accept your apology, conditional or otherwise.

For insight into philosophical issues, read articles and books. For insight into practical matters of graduate school, consult your advisors. For a feel of what (some) people in the profession are thinking about all manner of things (but can't say at more censored -- and status-obsessed, and therefore non-anonymous -- forums), read posts here.

Around blacks, never relax.

And that goes for more than just graduate school, friend.

Around whites, never relax, either.

In fact, never relax around anyone. There are lots of jerks out there. Be on your guard.

The shadow people. It's a great way to muddy the waters.

The main philosophy forums promote the ideas and names of really problematic people, which I've called out here in another thread. No way would this be allowed at Daily Nous.

The blacks.

Are you suggesting that the ideas of 'problematic' people should be forgotten?
